Ingredients
  

Cookie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature butter for easier mixing.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Don’t overmix the dough after adding the flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Add a pinch of sea salt on top before baking for extra flavor.
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips You can substitute with white or milk chocolate chips.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually blend into the creamed mixture.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them in a freezer bag for up to three months.
