Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs Best at room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Sift if necessary.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Add-Ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use semi-sweet or mix for variety.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months. For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg.
