  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Experiment with dark or white chocolate chips for variety

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy (about two minutes).
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets about two inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden around the edges but soft in the center.
  • Let cool on wire racks before enjoying.
