  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten Can substitute with a flax egg or unsweetened applesauce.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute half with whole wheat flour for a healthier version.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Feel free to swap for dried fruit or coconut.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, mix the mashed bananas with the melted butter.
  • Stir in the baking soda and salt.
  • Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  • Finally, stir in the flour and chocolate chips until just combined.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

You can serve Chocolate Chip Banana Bread warm or at room temperature. It pairs wonderfully with coffee or tea. To store, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or foil; it lasts up to three days at room temperature or about a week in the refrigerator. Can freeze for up to three months.
