  • 3 pieces ripe bananas Very ripe for best flavor
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • pinch n/a salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large piece egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Stir in the melted butter.
  • Mix in the baking soda and salt. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Mix in the flour until just incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Baking

  • Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cooling

  • Let the banana bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve plain, spread with butter, or with cream cheese. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
