Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
  • Pour batter into a greased pan.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool before serving.
