Chow Mein Sauce Preparation
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together oyster sauce, granulated sugar, sesame oil, soy sauce, chicken broth, and cornstarch until smooth. Set aside.
Noodle Preparation
- Following package instructions, cook chow mein noodles until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop further cooking. Set aside.
Cooking the Chicken and Vegetables
- Heat oil in a large wok or skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chicken strips and sauté until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside.
- In the same pan, add julienned carrots, chopped cabbage, and pressed garlic. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables soften.
Combine Ingredients
- Return the cooked chicken and noodles to the pan with the sautéed vegetables.
- Pour the prepared chow mein sauce over the top. Stir everything together and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve hot.
Notes
For best flavor, marinate chicken in the sauce for 15-30 minutes before cooking. Experiment with colorful vegetables and protein alternatives like shrimp or tofu for variety.
