  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature Ensure butter is at room temperature for best consistency.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Mix-Ins

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  • Add the salt, vanilla extract, and eggs; beat until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop tablespoonfuls of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the dough once you add the flour. For extra flavor, consider adding a tablespoon of milk to the dough or mixing in nuts.
