Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted sweet cream butter softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Mix-ins

  • 2 tablespoons reserved cherry juice
  • 2 to 3 drops pink food color
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg and add the vanilla and almond extracts.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Gradually blend this into the creamed mixture.
  • Stir in the reserved cherry juice, pink food color, cherries, and chocolate chips until everything is mixed well.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  • Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For variations, try dark chocolate chips or fresh cherries.
