Casserole Base

  • 3 cups mashed potatoes You can use pre-made or instant mashed potatoes to save time.

Meat Mixture

  • 1 pound lean ground beef You can substitute turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • 1/2 cup chopped white onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup crumbled bacon
  • 1 large egg

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, crumbled bacon, and egg. Mix until well combined.
  • In a greased casserole dish, spread half of the mashed potatoes on the bottom.
  • Add the meat mixture over the mashed potatoes, spreading it evenly.
  • Layer the remaining mashed potatoes on top of the meat mixture.

Cooking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until the meat is cooked through and the top is slightly golden.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Serve with a fresh green salad, steamed vegetables, or a side of crusty bread to soak up the juices. For a cheesy twist, add shredded cheese to the meat mixture or sprinkle on top before the end of baking.
