Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion, garlic powder, yellow mustard, ketchup, kosher salt, black pepper, and water to the skillet. Stir and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
Garlic Bread
- While the meat mixture simmers, mix softened butter with garlic salt.
- Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter evenly on both halves.
- Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes or until golden and crispy.
Assembly
- Remove the bread from the oven and spoon the beef mixture onto the toasted bread halves.
- Top with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
- Return to the oven and bake until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 5-7 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using garlic herb butter instead of plain butter. Experiment with cheese combinations, and for a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with lentils or chopped mushrooms.
