  • 1 cup sugar High-quality granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream For a smooth caramel texture

Preparation

  • Wash the apples thoroughly and slice them into wedges, removing the cores.
  • Soak the apple slices in a mixture of water and lemon juice to prevent browning.

Making the Caramel

  • In a saucepan, combine sugar and a tablespoon of water over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar melts and turns amber.
  • Remove from heat and carefully add in butter and cream, stirring until smooth.

Coating the Slices

  • Dip each apple slice into the warm caramel, allowing excess to drip off.
  • Place the coated slices on a parchment-lined tray and sprinkle with sea salt.

Finishing Up

  • Allow caramel to set at room temperature or chill in the refrigerator for about ten minutes.

Notes

Use fresh apples for the best taste. Patience is key in making caramel. Try adding nuts or crushed cookies for a unique twist.
