  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves Don't skip the fresh basil; it enhances the dish.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze Can substitute with thickened balsamic vinegar if needed.
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Preparation

  • On a large plate or serving platter, layer the tomato slices and mozzarella slices, alternating them.
  • Tuck fresh basil leaves in between the layers for added flavor.
  • Drizzle olive oil and balsamic glaze over the top.
  • Sprinkle with salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste.
  • Serve immediately as a refreshing appetizer or side dish.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh. If storing leftovers, keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within one day for best flavor. You can customize this salad by adding avocado slices, arugula, or pine nuts.
