Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate baking bar, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For garnish

  • Flaked sea salt, for optional garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until well combined.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and melted butter until smooth.
  • Add the melted chocolate and mix until incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Sprinkle with flaked sea salt, if using.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel for a delightful treat. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
