Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one by one, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix this into the creamed mixture until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts if using.
- Drop spoonfuls of brownie batter onto a lined baking sheet.
- Spoon dollops of chocolate chip cookie dough on top of the brownie batter.
- Use a knife to swirl both doughs together slightly for a marbled effect.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center looks slightly underbaked.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze in a sealed bag and thaw at room temperature or warm in the oven.
