  • 8 cups French bread, cubed Use old or stale bread for the best texture.
  • 4 cups milk You can substitute some milk with chocolate milk for a variation.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Feel free to sprinkle extra on top before serving.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional) Add for extra sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted To be poured into the baking dish.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Add the cubed bread to the mixture and stir until each piece is well coated. If you love sweetness, fold in raisins.
  • Pour the melted butter into the greased baking dish, then add the bread mixture.

Baking

  • Bake for 45 minutes or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

Store any leftover bread pudding in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will last for about 3 to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven before serving. Feel free to experiment with add-ins like chocolate chips, nuts, or other dried fruits.
