  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened but not melted.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Using high-quality chocolate chips is recommended.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom (optional) For an exotic flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cardamom.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cookies are golden brown around the edges and soft in the middle.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies can be served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or paired with milk for a cozy treat. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze them for longer storage.
