  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Use high-quality chocolate chips for best flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix together the flour and baking soda.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until creamy.
  • Add the vanilla extract and eggs, mixing well.
  • Gradually blend in the flour mixture until combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips with a spatula or wooden spoon.

Baking

  • Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze in a bag for up to three months and reheat in the oven.
