  • 2 cloves 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 leaf 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. In a large pot, brown the stewing beef in a little oil over medium heat.

  4. Stir in the tomato paste, then add the beef broth, potatoes, carrots, thyme, and bay leaf.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours or until the beef is tender.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve the stew in hollowed-out bread bowls.
