Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed Make sure your bananas are very ripe for the best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted Ensure to spread softened butter on the rolled-out dough.
  • 3/4 cup whole milk (or almond milk)
  • 2 large eggs Can replace with 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce if needed.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour You can replace half with whole wheat flour for a healthier version.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon For additional flavor, consider a cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mash the bananas. Mix in melted butter, sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla until combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined; be careful not to overmix.

Rolling and Baking

  • Roll the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle it with a cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into equal pieces.
  • Place the rolls in the greased dish, allowing them to rise slightly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Notes

For an extra touch, drizzle icing or a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk over the rolls. Store them in an airtight container after cooling completely; they can be kept at room temperature for 2 days, in the refrigerator for a week, or frozen for up to 3 months.
