  • 3 pieces ripe bananas Use very ripe bananas for best flavor.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten Can substitute with 1/4 cup applesauce for vegan option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour You can use whole wheat flour for a healthier option.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  • Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
  • Mix in the baking soda and salt.
  • Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Finally, mix in the flour until just incorporated.
  • Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.

Baking

  • Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let it cool before slicing.

Notes

Serve banana bread warm or at room temperature, great on its own or with butter or cream cheese. For storage, wrap tightly and keep at room temperature for a couple of days or in the fridge for up to a week. It freezes well for up to three months.
