Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened but not melted.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Chocolate Chips

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Use high-quality chocolate chips for a richer flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
  • In a large bowl, using a mixer, cream together the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt until smooth.
  • Beat in the vanilla and eggs until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden but the center is still soft.
  • Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies are best served warm. Pair with a glass of cold milk or a warm cup of coffee. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze cookies in a freezer-safe bag for up to three months.
