Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened, not melted.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Add-ins

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Use your choice of nuts.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Add vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.

Mixing

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture on low speed, mixing just until combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips and nuts with a spatula.

Baking

  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, space about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes, until edges are lightly golden but centers remain soft.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. For longer storage, freeze them in a freezer-safe container.
