Ingredients

For the salad

  • 3 pieces fresh apples (mix of varieties) Choose a mix for depth of flavor.
  • 4 cups mixed greens (spinach, arugula, or romaine) Use vibrant and fresh greens.
  • 0.5 cups nuts (walnuts or pecans) Add crunch; substitute with sunflower seeds if nut-free.
  • 0.5 cups cheese (crumbled feta or sharp cheddar) Choose based on your flavor preference.
  • 0.33 cups favorite dressing (vinaigrette, ranch, or yogurt-based) Start with less and adjust for creaminess.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash and cut about three apples into bite-sized pieces, rotating colors for visual appeal.
  • Fill a large salad bowl with about four cups of mixed greens.
  • Toss in a half-cup of nuts and a half-cup of cheese.
  • Gradually add about 1/3 cup of your chosen dressing, mixing slowly until the desired creaminess is achieved.
  • Gently toss the salad together, ensuring all ingredients are evenly coated.
  • For added flavor, sprinkle with freshly ground pepper or a squeeze of lemon juice just before serving.

Notes

Apple Salad can be prepared ahead of time. Store components separately and combine with dressing right before serving to maintain freshness. A mix of apple varieties like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp gives the best flavor mix.
