Ingredients
  

For the Apple Filling

  • 2 green apples (diced) Use your favorite variety of apples
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice Helps prevent browning
  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon For flavor
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

For the Dumplings

  • 1 tube crescent rolls Use store-bought for convenience
  • 1 stick butter (melted) Enhances flavor and texture
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar (packed) Adds sweetness
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract For flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice Optional for additional flavor
  • 1/3 cup Sprite (or 7UP) Adds moisture and sweetness

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven according to the crescent roll package instructions.
  • In a pot, combine water, lemon juice, cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Bring to a boil.
  • Add diced apples to the boiling mixture and cook for about 5 minutes until slightly softened.
  • Remove apples from heat and let them cool.

Assembly

  • Roll out the crescent rolls, and place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each one.
  • Roll the dough around the filling and pinch to seal.
  • Place the dumplings in a greased baking dish.

Baking

  • In a bowl, mix melted butter, light brown sugar, and vanilla, then pour over the dumplings.
  • Sprinkle flour and apple pie spice over dumplings.
  • Pour the Sprite (or 7UP) around the dumplings in the baking dish.
  • Bake according to crescent roll package instructions until golden brown.

Serving

  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

These dumplings can be served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or drizzled with caramel sauce for extra indulgence. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
