Ingredients
  

For the apple filling

  • 6 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced Choose Granny Smith apples for their tart flavor.
  • 1/4 cup cane sugar Adjust to taste if you prefer a sweeter cobbler.
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice Helps to enhance apple flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Add a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons cold butter, diced To be added on top before baking.

For the cobbler topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter Cut into cubes for mixing.
  • 2 ounces heavy cream Drizzle into the topping mixture.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Wash the apples and peel the skins. Cut the apples into 1/4-inch slices.
  • In a large bowl, add the apple slices, sugar, lemon juice, flour, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Mix everything together.
  • For the cobbler topping, combine the flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Mix in the 6 tablespoons of cold cubed butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Drizzle in the heavy cream and use a spoon to combine. Once it starts to come together, use your hands to shape it into clumps.

Baking

  • Grease the bottom and sides of a 9x12 baking dish with the butter wrapper or a small bit of butter.
  • Pour in the apple mixture. Top it with the diced cold butter and clumps of the cobbler topping, leaving some open spaces.
  • Bake in the oven for about 45 minutes, until the apple cobbler is golden and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat before serving.
