  • 4 cups peeled and sliced apples Choose firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free blend.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 pieces eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Substitutable with homemade baking powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional) Can add nutmeg for extra spice.
  • powdered sugar for dusting (optional) Adds a nice touch to presentation.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  • Fold in the sliced apples until well coated.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool before dusting with powdered sugar and serving.

Notes

Best served warm or at room temperature. Pair with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgence. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or in the refrigerator for a week.
