Make-It-Often Vanilla Snack Cake

- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (240 ml) milk, room temperature
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) neutral oil or melted unsalted butter, cooled
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp fine salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or berries
Optional Vanilla Frosting
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups (250 g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 tbsp milk (plus 1–2 tsp more if needed)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
