Texas Tea is a fun and vibrant cocktail that puts a twist on the classic Long Island Iced Tea. It’s packed with flavors and will surely give you a taste of the Lone Star State. This drink is perfect for parties, gatherings, or just a fun night in.

Why Make This Recipe

Making Texas Tea at home is easy and gives you control over the ingredients. You can create a delicious cocktail that impresses your friends and family. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just unwinding after a long day, this drink adds a festive touch to any moment.

How to Make Texas Tea

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz dry gin
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz gold tequila
  • 1 oz gold rum (NOT spiced)
  • 1 oz whisky-bourbon
  • 1 oz orange liqueur
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 2 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice (from 2 small lemons)
  • 2 oz cola (I used Pepsi)
  • Garnish with a lemon wedge and ice

Directions:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker, or large mason jar with lid, half full with ice.
  2. To the cocktail shaker, add the dry gin, vodka, gold tequila, gold rum, whiskey-bourbon, orange liqueur, simple syrup, and lemon juice. Shake to combine.
  3. Add a lemon wedge to the rim of each lowball cocktail glass and fill the glass ¾ full with ice.
  4. Divide the Texas Tea between the two glasses and top each drink with 1 oz of cola.

How to Serve Texas Tea

Serve Texas Tea in a lowball glass. Add ice, a lemon wedge garnish, and enjoy! You can also serve it with a straw or simply sip it as is.

How to Store Texas Tea

It is best to serve Texas Tea fresh. However, if you have leftovers, you can store it in the fridge for a few hours. Just keep in mind that the taste may change, and carbonation from the cola can go flat.

Tips to Make Texas Tea

  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup.
  • Chill your glasses beforehand to keep your drink colder longer.

Variation

You can create a lighter version of Texas Tea by substituting some of the spirits with sparkling water or soda. You can also experiment with different flavored liqueurs for a unique twist.
